ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival 2012: 2. Workshop for Poetry & Film: Making of

Poetic Encounters 2012: Making of

For the 6th ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival Polish film makers Maciek Majewski, Łukasz Twarkowski and Wiola Sowa have collaborated with German poets Norbert Hummelt, Nico Bleutge and Christian Filips to make film versions of poems of theirs. Together they chose the poems and worked on turning them into scripts. In the run-up to the festival the pairs of artists were meeting up in Berlin to turn their ideas into films within six days. The short films that have been created in this way were premièred on this evening.

The ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival has been around since 2002. It was the first and is the largest international platform for short films based on poetry – the poetry films. Every year, it offers poets, film and festival makers from all over the world a platform for creative exchange, brainstorming and meeting with a broad audience. With a competition, film programmes, poetry readings, retrospectives, exhibitions, performances, workshops, colloquia, lectures and a children’s program, it presents in various sections the diversity of the genre of poetry film.

In cooperation with the Polish Institute Berlin. Sponsored by the Foundation for German-Polish Cooperation, the German Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt), the German Literature Fund, the Marion Dönhoff Foundation, Camelot Broadcast Services GmbH, ACHTFELD GmbH and Cine Impuls. www.haus-fuer-poesie.org
